COMMUNITY

WELCOME!

We value opportunities to connect with members of our community to form mutually beneficial relationships. If there is some way that HHSE can help you, your business, or your organization, or if you feel you would like to get involved with our programs, we invite you to contact us.

HILLCREST HEIGHTS SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE WANTS TO GET INVOLVED AND SERVE

We are always looking for outlets where our students and staff can volunteer and serve. Past service projects we were involved in include creating Thanksgiving door decorations for an assisted living facility and collecting and organizing bags of hygiene products for prison inmates.

We like to do our part to spread important and helpful information to the local families and businesses.  We also like to promote locally owned and operated businesses.  Is there a way we can help to promote your business or support your organization’s message through a Campus Community Event?  Or maybe you want to teach a class to the community?  We’d love to help if we can!

HILLCREST HEIGHTS SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE NEEDS YOU, TOO

We recognize truth in the saying, ‘it takes a village to raise a child.’  Our amazing parents and staff can only offer so much to our students.  This is where you come in!  In our effort to provide holistic programs for our students, there are many beneficial classes, clinics, etc. that stretch beyond the realm of the classroom and require the expertise and experience of people in our community.  We believe that it is invaluable for youth to work with adult mentors in a variety of teaching situations outside of the classroom.  The following is a list of our current programs and events designed to build these bonds of influence.

Students visit adults in an assortment of professions and careers to learn what it’s all about, how to get there, and what it takes to be successful.  These experiences are invaluable in opening the eyes and minds of our students when planning their path for life after high school.  What could they glean from your job?

Students learn in-depth what they need to know to be successful young adults.  They dig into classes on time management, buying a car, avoiding debt, taxes, house maintenance, and more. What skill could teach to help them be better prepared?

This program is currently unnamed and will be introduced during the 2021-2022 school year.  While mothers, aunts, and grandmothers are extremely important in the lives of all youth, we subscribe to the notion that ‘only men can teach boys how to be manly.’ We wish to strengthen the fathers’ efforts in this vital quest and are looking for adult male mentors to take on this supporting role for our teen male students.

This program is currently unnamed and will be introduced during the 2021-2022 school year.  Young girls often struggle with self-esteem and self-worth.  We are looking for adult female mentors to be additional positive role models and mentors in order to reinforce the mothers’ efforts.

Commonly known as ‘common arts education,’ Craftsmanship Courses introduce students to the art of learning how to make things with their hands, understand them with their minds, and beautify them with their hearts. They will experience the progression from watching, to imitating, to creating.  Examples of Craftsmanship Courses may include metalworking, leatherworking, navigation, armament and hunting, animal husbandry, etc. We are looking for adults seasoned in any type of craftsmanship training.  This program will be introduced during the 2021-2022 school year.

This annual craft fair and family event is our big fundraiser of the year.  Each November the community can enjoy shopping with a multitude of vendors, enter a reindeer fun-run, and enjoy a meal and pictures with Santa Clause.  If you are interested in being a vendor, or would like to advertise your business, contact us.

We are always looking for teachers and staff who love what we’re doing and want to be a part of our family. If you think you would be a good fit to our methods and vision, we’d love to chat!

Each summer we plan to offer bigger and better outlets to not only keep your kids active and engaged, but to help them explore aspects about themselves they haven’t yet discovered.  You can find information about our summer camps on our ‘summer’ page.

If you are interested in working with Hillcrest Heights School of Excellence in any of the capacities mentioned above, please contact us and specify which position(s) you’re considering.  We will contact you with more information.

Note: All adults who wish to be officially involved with our students through HHSE programs on or off campus will need to complete an interview process and pass a background check.
