Emily graduated from Brigham Young University in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. She started her career in education by teaching children in 2nd and 5th grades at a Title 1 school which served the homeless children and youth in Midvale, UT. She also assisted in developing the first dual-language program in Jordan School District to mutually benefit the needs of English and Spanish language learners. Emily is a certified ESL teacher who has taught adult literacy in Mexico and English classes both locally and in Spain.
While raising her six children, she has worked with the eSylvan Learning Center, dabbled in homeschooling, actively volunteered in public school educating small groups as well as organizing large events, tutored children privately in both English and Spanish, and run a preschool for children 2-5 years of age. She has also taught religious instruction and music education to children and youth at church.
Most recently she and her family have welcomed several foster children into their home. She has been trained in a variety of mental health and trauma-related issues impacting children and youth. In her free time, Emily enjoys being outdoors, exercise and nutrition, cooking and organizing.
